Three international leading architects from Japan and EU will be invited as curators to select 20 architects in total for the exhibition. On the Japanese side, Mr. Fumihiko Maki, Mr. Toyo Ito, and Mr. Hiroshi Hara work by annual rotation as curators to select 5 works of 5 young/promising architects from Japan. On the EU side, one curator is invited from each Cultural Capital's state to select 15 works of 15 young/promising architects from 15 EU Member States.

Fumihiko MAKI Alvaro SIZA Wiel ARETSBorn in Tokyo in 1928. He studied at the University of Tokyo and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In 1965 he established Maki and Associates. He is one of the representative persons among modern and contemporary Japanese architects. His works include "Hillside Terrace Apartments", "Spiral Building", "Nippon Convention Center", etc. Among many awards he won are "Architectural Institute of Japan Prize", "Pritzker Architecture Prize"(1993). Born in Portugal in 1933, Siza is one of today's most important architects in Europe. He studied and has been teaching since 1966 at the University of Porto, School of Architecture, apart from his private practice. His works include "San Victor Residential Complex", "Bonjour Tristesse" in Berlin-Kreuzberg, "Galicia Museum of Modern Art". Siza won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1992. Born in Netherlands in 1955, he graduated from Eindhoven University of Technology in 1983. Arets has been drawing wide attention over these years as one of the most prominent architects in Europe. Apart from his private practice, he teaches in many countries over the world and is a director at Berlage Institute. One of his works is "National Art Academy" in Maastricht. He won Victor de Stuers prize and other awards over the years. @
